Sheen up my eyes! Featuring E.l.f Eye Transformer

26May10

I bought this item 2 weeks ago from The Spectrum Shop:)

E.l.f Studio Eye Transformer. it looks pretty similar to the E.l.f Corrective Concealer quad, doesn't it?

this is part of this collective haul (which I videoed, but I couldn't upload as promised!)

anyway, back to the Eye Transformer, I must say that this is the item that I was most looking forward to! I first saw this from one of Icyabstract's (Sara) LOTDs a few months back and I was like WOAAAHHHH, super pretty effect! but only come to getting it few months later for some unknown reason.

here are the swatches.

it can be used as an eyeshadow on its own, or applied before or after putting on your regular eyeshadow.

so what this does is to transform your usual eye shadow colours to something more sheeny, not so much of glitter though. but I love it like that becos glitters can get so messy sometimes. plus at some angles, your normal blues can look green or turquoise. I had so much fun playing around with this and not knowing what colour will turn up!

so here are some transformation pictures. I used my Regular 88 Palette here.

I started off with my favourite colour on the palette! I'm such a fan of blues and greens <3

without flash

all these swatches are of the Eye Transformer being applied on top of the eyeshadows. I love that ts gives a whole new look for me, so instead of having 88 colours on the palette, I feel like I have 176 colours! :p however, I noticed that the Eye Transformer works best with darker colours. it ends up looking chalky/murky on the lighter colours.

this is the only LOTD that I have with the Eye Transformer. haven't come to experimenting them much on the eyes. picture was taken when I got home, so the colour transformation effect is not at its full swing, although I did apply primer underneath.

will definitely be posting more LOTDs with this product!

Collective LOTDs featuring Neutrals

20May10

I'm currently having problems uploading the video I promised about :( so that will take a while. now some new hauls are piling up and I haven't come to sharing anything at all! gonna be collecting another parcel from my bff tmr! and after that, I'm on my self-imposed makeup ban, since I already got the things I have been eyeing for!

anyway, I'm just here to feature a collective LOTDs for the whole week :) these are when I'm heading to school, hence the neutrals - and also becos I was so excited with my new 88 Warm Palette!

LOTD 1

LOTD 2

LOTD 3

hahaha, and I actually get a lot of people asking me why I have time to put MU and at 6.30 in the morning too? let me make a mini self-disclaimer okay: I don't think my eye MU is elaborate and I can actually do it quickly in 10 mins - including eyeliner, curler, mascara! plus I do not comb my hair when it's wet, so I'll leave my house with uncombed hair hahaha! so no extra time taken there :p

but I've been coming late to class every single day this week omg, I should so work on my sense of discipline :(

alright, thanks for viewing!

just a quick thought, my hair grows so slowly, but I dunno why my fringe grows at an alarming rate! gonna be back to blunt bangs tmr.

my calves are aching so much right now, I should go rest up. it's been a hectic (sort of) week. feels so damn long. thank god there's no school tmr, only work and tuition. so mighty glad the week is closing soon enough:)

Packages, palettes and upcoming video!

18May10

if feels weird that I haven't been updating here, even if it's just 3 days! my summer school term has just begun and I'm still adapting to the new timetable and stuff. I do come by here regularly to read what you girls write about and reply to comments though. so thank you for the littlest things that make my day :)

anyway, I did a collective haul-cum-review video just now after I got home, but I didn't manage to do the editing yet. I'll probably upload it tmr and will be revealing these packages! (as featured in this teaser entry.)

confession: when I order stuff online, I will actually post the mailing address to my bff's house and keep spamming her mailbox. just becos my dad is so uncool with me buying stuff online, and MAKEUP STUFF at that. he thinks I'm wasting money or I'll get cheated etcetera somewhere along those lines. anyone's parents' are like that too? :( haha 'hidayah' is my best friend's name and 'syidah' is mine. explains the recipient's name on the packages? :D

so do watch out for that haul/review video which will probably be up tmr or the next day :)

to end off this entry, I got my hands on this baby today from Magical Tannsu. the website sells a wide array of popular and affordable MU, but I find that it's a little inefficient with the delivery process. I made the payment last monday and only got it one week later. but maybe it's just me.

88 Warm Palette with a free eyeshadow brush.

Magical Tannsu is currently giving away freebies if u spend above a certain amount, so I got the cute e/s brush. can't wait to do LOTDs with this palette - I love their frozen pinks!

beside the wear-and-tear of my earlier 88 Original Palette.

now I'm eyeing the 88 Marble Palette next! it's similar to the warm palette, but has purple tones, more reddish copper and bronze hues. so pretty! but I dunno if it'll be redundant?

gonna sleep now. I have classes at 8.30am almost everyday :( but this sem's gonna be good!

17Mar10

my first Face of the Day entry! didn't really wanna do a Look of the Day cos my hair was undone and I haven't decided what to wear so I was in some random pullover.

did a soft lilac subtle eyeshadow look today with the 88 palette. I am totally loving the colours and can't wait to experiment more! I actually have a literal notepad to jot down my favourite colour combis just so I'll remember them the next time I want to duplicate the same look ;)

Hauls + Reviews: Lippies, Brushes and Eyeshadows!

14Mar10

as mentioned in the the earlier entry, I bought more lipsticks. I'm not exactly a Maybelline junkie. I dunno why, but it just so happens that I get so mighty attracted to the colours that they have, drugstore-wise. Especially the new Moisture Extreme range. I find other drugstore brands like Revlon's or Loreal's lipstick range doesn't quite have much that appeal to me. yes, I am aware that Revlon has pretty pinks, but nothing jumps out at me. or can u recommend any? :)

left: Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Empire Rouge
right: Maybelline Watershine Pure in B24

excuse my chipped nails :p

Empire Rouge is a sultry, deep red colour. it's not like a wham-in-ur-face kinda youthful red. the Moisture Extreme range has a lot of reds and one of the reasons I picked this was its ultra hip name! haha. Empire Rouge~ and for most part, I love the deep red colour that makes the lips more defined. one thing I learnt is that, red lipsticks help to make u have shapelier lips -- especially when used with a lip brush! give it a try!

I just used the lipstick on its own though without brush, just to do a quick lip swatch.

B42 is a sweet, pale pink which is highly glossy. would look perfect with dramatic, sultry eye makeup.

to compare, I prefer the Moisture Extreme range than this Watershine range in terms of moisturizing prowess. although the Watershine looks extremely glossy, it wears out faster and leaves ur lips feeling dry. both, however, bleeds a lot. so it gets pretty messy if u drink from a cup/bottle and might stain ur teeth too!

revlon has more lasting quality, but too badddd they don't have colours that I like! :(

moving on, I got the Artistry 8pc Brush Set last week from Magical Tannsu.

the pen is there just for size comparison's sake :) the bristles are said to be from real animal hair, didn't mention what though -- I think it's either goat's or horse.

from left to right: spoolie, sponge applicator, angled brush, concealer brush, 2 eyeshadow brushes, angled blush/contour brush and total face brush. the blings on the right side of the faux leather case is my doing :p

these are my fave brushes from the set:

from left to right:

spoolie -- my first spoolie ever so I can't help but favourite it! and it does it's job to separate my lashes after mascara application.

angled brush -- picks up colour real well.

face brush -- the bristles are super soft and springy. doesn't scratch at all. but the downside is that the bristles shed! not to the point of balding, but yeah, they shed. but it doesn't bother me.

angled blush/contour brush -- bristles are soft too! though I wish it's denser so that I have more control when applying blush. this sheds too.

the two big brushes comes with a plastic protector too so u can safely put them in ur makeup pouch. I don't really like the other four brushes. retails at $21.90 per set.

and last but not least, I finally (after much procrastination) got my 88 original eyeshadow palette. from Magical Tannsu as well, retailing at $29.90. even cheaper than from ebay!

I suppose I don't have to review on this one. there's a lot of raves about this product -- how vibrant, how blendable and how pigmented the colours are. just youtube on this "88 palette" and wham, u can see a lot of raves :) and I'm sure most of u, if not all, have seen/heard of this palette before. coastal scents are the original makers of these. I believe most 88 palettes are dupes and the one I got is also a dupe, but reviews say they are equally good and there's no tell-tale signs of any differences. except that there's customer satisfaction gurantee if u buy from Coastal Scents. I think.

not gonna review on this. but one thing I realised it that the matte colours are a bit chalky when u first pat on.

notice how the blue is chalky as compared to the two shimmery brown-toned colours? but it is okay after blending. so u might wanna pat first, then blend to avoid massive fallout. I'm really loving the sheen and glittery colours! even though the 88 palette original is labelled as "matte", not all are matte... some has sheens and shimmers.

I was at mustafa with the bf today and I bought Vaseline. haha totally no idea what this is for. I just know it's good, but I dunno for what reason. always good to keep something that u might need :p I will google on 'What is Vaseline for?' soon or perhaps someone wants to help enlighten me? :)

and to end off, I'll give a random fact.

my E.L.F blusher has hit pan! and in under a month too! wait, I think it's just three weeks ago -- I wrote a haul entry on it here. I've been using it everyday. and it doesn't help that the pigments crumble under my brush. so I wasted a lot of blusher, which can't be helped. becos I think as pretty as E.L.F blushers are, the compact is loose and a lot of the powder will crumble more than u need.

phew, what a long entry. thanks for reading!
